World Mobile and DITO CME’s partnership aims to boost connectivity and drive blockchain adoption.
Blockchain-Powered Internet Expands in the Philippines
World Mobile has partnered with DITO CME to bring blockchain-driven internet access to over 25 million people in the Philippines. The collaboration will leverage decentralized infrastructure and aims to bridge connectivity gaps, particularly in rural areas.
Leveraging Decentralized Technology
World Mobile’s decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) will be integrated with DITO CME’s telecom services. This approach enhances broadband reach while promoting a blockchain-based sharing economy for internet access.
CEO Highlights Connectivity Milestone
Micky Watkins, CEO of World Mobile Group, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating:
“This partnership with DITO CME represents a significant milestone in our mission to democratize access to connectivity across the globe. By leveraging blockchain technology and a decentralized sharing economy model, we can empower communities and provide connectivity solutions that ensure no one is left behind.”
Starlink-Powered AirNodes to Improve Coverage
To strengthen connectivity in underserved regions, World Mobile will deploy Starlink-powered AirNodes. This integration will improve mobile and broadband services, ensuring stable and widespread coverage across the country.
Introduction of Blockchain-Based E-Wallet
The partnership will also launch DTaka, a blockchain-powered e-wallet within the DITO CME ecosystem. DTaka features a dual-token model:
- A stablecoin for mobile payments and remittances.
- A utility token for gamification and rewards.
Rollout Plans for 2025
The new services, including the DTaka wallet, will be introduced in 2025. World Mobile and DITO CME also plan to expand blockchain-powered solutions across the World Mobile Chain and the DTaka app in the coming months.
