Bo Hines will work alongside David Sacks to boost digital asset innovation under Trump’s administration.
Trump Appoints Bo Hines to Key Crypto Role
Donald Trump has named Bo Hines as Executive Director of his administration’s “Crypto Council.” Hines, a former college football player and 2022 Republican congressional candidate, will work with David Sacks, Trump’s crypto and AI czar, to drive innovation and support the growth of digital assets.
The Crypto Council’s Mission
Trump unveiled the Crypto Council’s creation on Dec. 22 via Truth Social. According to Trump, the council will aim to “foster innovation and growth” in the crypto sector while providing industry leaders with necessary resources. Hines will oversee policy development and industry engagement in his new role.
Hines’ Background and Crypto Ties
Bo Hines narrowly lost the North Carolina U.S. House race in 2022 to Democrat Wiley Nickel. Hines benefited from funding by pro-crypto political action committees, including contributions from Ryan Salame, former FTX CEO, now serving a seven-year prison sentence for unlawful political donations.
Expanding the Leadership Team
In addition to Hines, Trump has appointed Sriram Krishnan, a former Andreessen Horowitz general partner, as senior AI policy adviser. Krishnan will collaborate with David Sacks to shape AI strategies that align with the administration’s tech priorities.
Pro-Crypto Leadership Signals Industry Support
Trump’s appointments signal a continuation of his pro-crypto stance. During his campaign, he pledged to establish the U.S. as the “world capital of crypto.” Recent key nominations, including Elon Musk and Paul Atkins, underscore his commitment to reshaping crypto regulations and promoting industry-friendly policies.
