Chainlink’s protocol goes live on Sonic mainnet, boosting decentralized app capabilities.
Chainlink Powers Cross-Chain Development
Sonic Labs, formerly known as Fantom, has officially integrated Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) into its mainnet. This move enables developers to create and deploy decentralized applications (dApps) that can interact seamlessly across multiple blockchain networks.
We’re excited to announce that @Chainlink is live on Sonic. Developers can leverage Chainlink to build cross-chain, secure, and ultra-fast apps: 📡 Chainlink CCIP 📊 Chainlink Data Feeds ⚡ Chainlink Data Streams 🔗 blog.soniclabs.com/sonic-adopts-t…
In addition to CCIP, Sonic has implemented Chainlink’s Data Streams and Data Feeds, providing enhanced functionality for developers.
Unlocking New Use Cases
Sonic Labs’ business development lead, Sam Harcourt, emphasized the significance of this integration, saying:
“Chainlink CCIP, Data Streams, and Data Feeds are critical for unlocking an array of novel cross-chain use cases and powering the next generation of high-performance DeFi apps.”
Key Features and Benefits
The integration with Chainlink introduces several advantages:
- Programmable and Cross-Chain Tokens: Facilitates seamless asset movement and token interoperability.
- Arbitrary Messaging: Supports advanced dApp functionalities across blockchain ecosystems.
- Enhanced Security: Leverages Chainlink’s robust infrastructure for a secure development environment.
A Strategic Move for Growth
This development builds on Sonic’s participation in the Chainlink SCALE program in September 2024, showcasing Sonic’s commitment to expanding its capabilities. Sonic’s Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) Layer 1 mainnet, launched in December 2024, already boasts an impressive 10,000 transactions per second with sub-second finality.
Supporting DeFi Innovation
Sonic’s recent adoption of Circle’s bridged USDC standard via the Sonic Gateway, alongside a proposal for Aave v3 integration, underlines its strategy to attract developers and grow its DeFi ecosystem.
With Chainlink’s standard already embraced by institutions like Fidelity International and Swift, Sonic Labs is poised to advance cross-chain innovation.
