Telegram deepens its partnership with TON blockchain to power mini-apps and expand its ecosystem.
TON Blockchain Takes Center Stage
The TON Foundation announced on Jan. 21 that it has secured an exclusive partnership with Telegram to support all mini-apps on the platform. This integration positions the TON blockchain as the backbone of Telegram’s growing app ecosystem.
Migration Deadline for Mini-Apps
Developers of existing mini-apps on Telegram that don’t currently use TON must migrate by February 21, 2025. The TON Foundation is facilitating this transition with robust support, including:
- Technical assistance for seamless integration
- Streamlined onboarding for users
- Marketing support and ad credit grants of up to $50,000
New Features and Adoption
The partnership is poised to drive adoption among Telegram’s 950 million monthly active users. To support this, TON Connect will serve as the exclusive wallet for mini-apps, simplifying user interactions with the blockchain.
Gaming and NFT Innovations
Telegram’s ecosystem is set to expand further with Toncoin-powered apps, including popular tap-to-earn games like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin. Additionally, Telegram plans to tokenize gifts, emojis, and stickers using NFTs, unlocking new monetization avenues for creators and users.
A Vision for Growth
The TON blockchain originated as Telegram’s Open Network in 2017 but was later revived by a developer community in 2021. Since then, Telegram has embraced TON, supporting Toncoin payments and advancing blockchain-powered initiatives.
“TON is now ready for explosive growth in 2025,” said Manuel Stotz, TON Foundation President. This exclusive partnership sets the stage for the next wave of innovation in asset tokenization and blockchain adoption.
